Earth-Quake Predictions using Snakes

With the most recent earthquakes striking Taiwan this week, China has come up with a new natural solution to predict earth quakes. They are going to use snakes to predict earthquakes.

“Of all the creatures on Earth, snakes are perhaps the most sensitive to earthquakes”, Jiang Weisong, Director of EarthQuake Bureau in Nanning (Capital of Guangxi autonomous region in Southern China) was quoted as saying. He said that snakes, a popular restaurant dish in the south in winter, could sense an earthquake from 120 km (70 miles) away and three to five days in advance, before it happens.

After thoroughly monitoring the behaviour of snakes at local snake farms via video cameras that runs all 24 hours a day, the Bereau has concluded that snakes indeed behave strangely when an earth is about to occur. “Snakes will move out of their nests, even in the cold of the winter when they felt an earthquake is about to occur”, Jiang says, “If the earthquake is a big one, the snakes will even smash into walls while trying to escape”.
