Reservation: good or bad?

   Posted by: AgendasSOS   in Rambles

This is a hot topic and we were even asked to discuss on this topic in one of the interviews I sat a few days back. Well, I think half of the country’s population supports reservation of seats while the rest don’t. I just wanted to give my view on it because I don’t fully agree with either of the two groups.

What I feel is that, Reservation is necessary to bring the backward groups of people at par with the rest of the society and that is a very important factor which will help in Country’s progress. We cannot develop part by part, we have to develop together and only when all portion of the country is developed, we will be called a developed country.

Having said that, I don’t fully agree with the idea of implementation this on every aspect of our life. There are certain cases where I don’t think seats should be reserved based on any category of people. Like in the medical profession. It is ok to have the reservations on selection of undergraduate medical courses, but once they went through the courses, I don’t think hey should again be given more chances when it comes to selecting doctors for the hospitals. That will simply downgrade the whole system and lead to more destruction than better. So, I hope the government should consider this point seriously. I am on neither sides, but do feel there is need of some modification in the Reservation Policy of our Government.
